This radiator has been tested successfully on multiple 5-cylinder-swapped MQB vehicles using a front-mount intercooler configuration. Its increased cooling capacity allows the OEM side radiators to become optional rather than a requirement in properly configured swaps, helping simplify plumbing, packaging and fabrication while retaining a fully functional air-conditioning system. This makes it an excellent starting point for builders looking to delete the factory intercooler arrangement, move to a front-mount intercooler and simplify the overall cooling package.
Builder’s Edition units use the same high-capacity aluminum core and cooling design, while some mounting tabs or installation points may require minor adjustment depending on the application. They are intended for performance shops, fabricators and custom builds where these modifications are already part of the installation process.
