Description
This listing is for FLEX hardware only. To actually read and write ECUs or TCUs, you will later choose and purchase an activation.
How activation works
You choose two things:
1) Role
Master: you control your workflow directly.
Slave: typically used under a Master for file modification workflows.
Note: Magic states a Slave is exclusively linked to its chosen Master for operations that require file modification, and release requires Master permission.
2) Coverage
ECU package: Engine ECUs. Magic describes this package as OBD and Bench.
TCU package: Transmission control units. Magic describes this package as OBD, Bench, and Boot.
Full package: Broad ECU and TCU coverage plus additional bench and bootloader protocols depending on what you activate.
Connection modes in plain terms
OBD: in-vehicle access through the diagnostic port when supported.
Bench: controlled setup for full read and write without relying on in-car OBD access.
Boot: lower-level access used for certain locked modules and recovery scenarios, depending on the activated package.
Subscription and renewals
Magic’s terms state an annual subscription fee becomes due one year after activation, and pricing varies based on the software configuration.
This hardware-only listing includes no activation and therefore includes no subscription.
Optional file service support (if you want it)
If you want to start delivering jobs before you handle every calibration in-house, we can provide file support for many platforms.
Dealer tier options through us:
Full dealer: 25% discount on file services and better margins.
Distributor level: up to 50% discounts, based on volume and terms.
Who this is for
People who want to reserve FLEX hardware now and decide later whether they need ECU, TCU, or Full coverage.
Shops that want a phased buy-in: hardware first, activation second.
Anyone building a real workflow for ECU and TCU programming, not just hobby-level tools.
How to choose the right activation
Send the list of what you actually service:
Brands you work on
ECU, TCU, or both
Whether you want to operate as Master or run under a Master
I will tell you which activation path fits your use case with the least wasted spend.
Important note
Always verify coverage for your exact vehicle and control unit on Magic’s official vehicle list before buying an activation.
